| Choi was born to muggle parents and grew up doing muggle things and having a very muggle view on the world. Like most people in his situation, he though magic was a silly thing that you grew out of when you were little and never thought about ever again. So when a letter arrived telling him he was going to a school of magic he assumed it was some crazy offer for magician school. Of course, he'd never applied to magician school. Or showed any interest so that crazy magicians would pick him. Still, it was a much more sensible explanation than real magic school. Anyway, he only had to go on thinking that crazy magicians were stalking him for a few days until a very weird looking fellow came and told him that magic was real. Crazy cult, much? He went along with it though, thinking it would be a laugh, only to discover that this stuff really was real and it wasn't a trick and he wasn't crazy. For once. A natural born trouble maker, Choi had a bit of trouble settling down at Hogwarts. He spent the first few weeks trying to convince other muggle-born children that this was really a scary cult and that people here were going to steal their money. Or their souls, if he felt like making the story more dramatic. Unfortunately he could only keep that going until all the kids in his year caught on, since no one in the older years would believe him. Now he was just bored. His time at Howarts since then has been spent trying to find somewhere to vent his energy. He joined pretty much all of the school's clubs, which was impressive, but was steadily kicked out of all of them. He couldn't sit still long enough to play Wizard Chess and Quidditch... well, he was just terrible at Quidditch. Since electrical equipment didn't work in school, the only thing he'd brought to entertain himself were some books and a pack of playing cards. He took to learning every muggle and wizarding card game he could find, then teaching unsuspecting students and gambling with them (mostly for sweets at first). Unfortunately most games seemed to be based on chance, so once people had grasped the rules he started losing again. That was when he picked up a book on counting cards in Blackjack. He had always been pretty brilliant at maths and he picked it up with little difficulty and has been cheating Hogwarts students out of their money ever since. Personality | | Choi is naturally mischievous and loves stirring up trouble. He likes to be the clown of the group, using his crazy personality to get attention and make up for the automatic uncool you get from being smart. He's usually a lot of fun, but sometimes has trouble drawing the line between funny and taking it too far. Most people can get on with him quite easily but some are just driven mad by how irritating he can be. He takes particular pleasure in tormenting those crazy pure-bloods. He also happens to have a bit of a problem with kleptomania. The other members of his dorm have taken to locking up their stuff, but this just made it more of a challenge. Obviously if something is locked away it's bound to be awesome. He usually returns things of any worth, but obviously they have to turn up somewhere amusing. His own space is like a magpie's nest and he often spends hours in the morning looking for things he's lost in all the worthless clutter he's taken. He has also been banned from the food cart on the Hogwarts Express after a certain incident where all it's contents went missing and ended up hidden all across the train. Relationships | |
